Shopify e-invoicing, delivered over Peppol
GoRoute E-Invoicing for Shopify turns every paid business order into the e-invoice the law asks for and then delivers it: over the Peppol network into the buyer’s accounting system, or by email as a PDF carrying the e-invoice inside it when the buyer is not on the network. Refunds and cancellations raise credit notes. It is live for businesses registered in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and Oman.
GoRoute is a certified Peppol Access Point (POP000991) and an Oman Tax Authority accredited service provider, so the invoice and its delivery are one service rather than an app plus somebody else’s network. And there is no fee per document — sending is part of the plan price, on every plan including Free.
Coming to the Shopify App Store — the listing is in review and there is nothing to install yet. Until it is live, we connect your store with you on the call.

Behind this order, in the seconds after payment
What the app adds to your store
One field at checkout, one block on the order, and a document that reaches the buyer. Your theme, your checkout and your payment provider stay as they are.
The buyer’s number, collected and checked
A business customer gives their VAT or business number at checkout. It is checked in the format your country uses and looked up on the Peppol network, so both of you know how the invoice will arrive before the order is paid. Consumers see nothing new, and compliance never blocks a sale.
An invoice that actually arrives
A paid business order becomes a structured e-invoice, delivered by GoRoute’s own certified access point into the buyer’s accounting software. A buyer who is not on the network is emailed a PDF with the e-invoice inside it — ZUGFeRD or Factur-X — rather than being dropped.
The state, on the order
A block on the Shopify order page shows the invoice number, how it was sent, whether it was delivered, and the PDF and XML to download. Issue, retry, credit and re-bill are buttons in the same block, not a support ticket.
How a paid order becomes an e-invoice
One completed order, four steps, no one at the keyboard.
Order paid
Shopify tells the app the moment payment completes. Merchants who prefer it can issue on fulfilment instead.
Buyer resolved
Business or consumer, which identifier applies, and whether that identifier is reachable on the network.
Issued and validated
Your country’s rules are applied and the document is validated on GoRoute’s servers before anything leaves.
Delivered and answered
Over Peppol, or by email as a PDF that carries the e-invoice. The answer comes back onto the order.
Peppol first, email as the fallback
Most business buyers are reachable on the network and get the invoice straight into their software. Everyone else is emailed a PDF with the structured e-invoice embedded in it, so their accounting system can still read it. Belgium is the exception: it does not accept email between businesses, and the order says so instead of pretending the invoice arrived.
Consumer orders are left alone
A sale to a private customer needs no e-invoice outside Oman, and the order says so rather than failing quietly. In Oman, a consumer sale gets the simplified tax invoice with its Fawtara QR code and is reported to the Tax Authority.
The access point is GoRoute itself
This is not an invoice generator bolted onto somebody else’s network. GoRoute is the certified access point, so issuing, delivery and the delivery answer are one service with one place to look when a document does not land. The same engine is available directly as an API.
The documents a shop actually needs
A tax invoice is not the whole job. Orders get quoted before they are paid, shipped in parts, refunded and cancelled — and the shopper wants their own copy.
Tax invoice
For every paid business order, in the format your country requires, validated before it is sent and deduplicated so one sale can only ever produce one invoice.
Credit note
A refund credits what was refunded and a cancellation credits in full, each citing the original invoice and delivered the same way it went. Refund in the Shopify admin as normal; the document follows.
Pro forma invoice
For a buyer who needs a document before they pay. One per order, replaced rather than duplicated if you raise it again, and labelled plainly as not a tax invoice.
Delivery note
Raised per fulfilment with its despatch date and tracking reference, so a part-shipped order gets a note for what actually went, with or without prices.
Consumer receipts in Oman
A consumer sale by an Omani seller becomes a simplified tax invoice carrying the Fawtara QR code, reported to the Tax Authority. Details on the Oman page.
The shopper’s own copy
The invoice shows on the order status page straight after checkout, and again in the customer account against that order — so a buyer who lost the email fetches the PDF themselves instead of emailing you.
What it costs — and no fee per document
A plan a month, billed through Shopify, and that is the whole bill. Sending a document over the Peppol network costs nothing extra on any plan, including Free.
Why we say this so loudly
It is normal in this category to charge a few cents for each document submitted to the network, on top of the monthly plan. A store sending a thousand documents a month pays that thousands of times a year, and never knows next month’s bill. Here the number is zero: the plan price is the price, and the only thing a bigger plan buys is a bigger monthly allowance.

Prices are US dollars a month and are charged through Shopify billing, so the app appears on your Shopify invoice rather than as a separate card payment. The same plans and the same prices apply wherever GoRoute is connected — the WooCommerce plugin and the API included.
See it on a real Shopify store
Twenty minutes, your questions, and a live business order with a real Peppol delivery at the end of it. We will also tell you the day the App Store listing goes live.
Where it is live today
Six countries, chosen once in the set-up. Each brings its own identifiers, invoice rules and validation, and the app never asks you about any of them again. Whether a mandate covers your business is for you and your adviser to confirm.
Belgium
Structured e-invoices between businesses since 1 January 2026, over Peppol. Email is not an accepted channel, so an unreachable buyer is reported rather than emailed.
Germany
Receiving has been mandatory since 2025 and issuing phases in from 2027. EN 16931 under the XRechnung rules, with ZUGFeRD by email for buyers off the network.
The Netherlands
Peppol-ready today with the KVK or VAT number, and no domestic mandate yet — Dutch buyers already ask for it, so the store that has it wins the account.
Australia
PINT A-NZ invoices addressed by ABN, with GST handled as the specification requires. GoRoute is listed on the Australian Taxation Office’s Peppol service provider register.
New Zealand
The same PINT A-NZ rules addressed by NZBN, on the same network and the same plan as everywhere else.
Oman
Fawtara: PINT OM documents reported to the Tax Authority, and consumer receipts carrying the QR code. GoRoute is an accredited service provider.
Sources: Peppol · Federal Ministry of Finance: E-Rechnung · Oman Tax Authority.
Setting it up, step by step
The app is not on the Shopify App Store yet, so today we do this with you on a call. It is the same four steps either way, and it takes about ten minutes.
Choose your country
One question: where is your business registered? Everything after it — identifiers, rules, validation, wording — follows from the answer.
Connect once
Sign in to your GoRoute account or create one, approve the store, and you are back with it connected. No API key to copy anywhere.
Confirm your business
Legal name, address, tax number and logo. Your own identifier is registered on the Peppol network as you save, so answers and incoming documents can find you.
Place a test order
A readiness list shows what is done and what is not, each row with its fix beside it. Then place a business order and watch Delivered appear on it.
If you would rather watch it first, the recorded product walkthroughs show the same flow on other platforms.
