The Peppol ID Amazon asks Belgian businesses for, registered in minutes
Amazon Business delivers its Belgian B2B invoices over the Peppol network, and it only does so to a Peppol ID that passes its validation: one that can receive an invoice and a credit note. GoRoute registers your enterprise number on the network with both document types published, so the ID validates and the invoices arrive.
Create a free account, enter your enterprise number, and the registration is on GoRoute’s SMP and in the Peppol directory. Then paste the ID into Manage your VAT in your Amazon Business account.

Why Amazon wants a Peppol ID from a Belgian business
Since 1 January 2026 an invoice between two VAT-registered businesses in Belgium must be a structured e-invoice delivered over the Peppol network. Amazon Business is the supplier on every business order, so it has to deliver its invoices that way, and it can only deliver to an identifier that exists on the network.
The ID is inferred from your VAT number
Amazon reads the Belgian VAT registration number saved in your account and derives the Peppol ID from it. You can confirm or change that ID on the Manage your VAT page. A customer without a VAT number can declare so there and is outside the mandate.
Two checks, not one
A valid VAT number proves your tax registration. The Peppol check proves the network can deliver to you, and Amazon states it explicitly: the registration must accept the credit note document type as well as the invoice, or the ID fails validation even with a valid VAT number.
What a failed check costs you
An ID that is inactive, or cannot receive credit notes, means the network may reject the e-invoices Amazon sends to your company. You are left without a compliant invoice for the purchase, and with a flag in your account every seven days until it is fixed.
How to get a Peppol ID that Amazon validates
Four steps, about ten minutes, no software to install.
Create a free GoRoute account
Email and company name. The account owns the registration; nothing is charged until you publish.
Enter your enterprise number
Your ten-digit KBO/BCE number, which is your VAT number without the BE prefix. GoRoute registers it under scheme 0208 and can add the 9925 VAT form beside it.
Publish
The registration goes to GoRoute’s SMP, the Peppol SML and the Peppol directory with the invoice and credit-note document types published. A live check on the page confirms the network can see it.
Add the ID in Amazon
In your Amazon Business account open Manage your VAT, confirm the Belgian VAT registration, and confirm or paste the Peppol ID. Amazon validates it within its next seven-day cycle.
Both document types, always
Every Belgian registration on GoRoute publishes Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 Invoice and Credit Note, the two documents Amazon’s validation looks for. There is no option to publish only one, so the check cannot fail on that ground.
A real receiving access point behind it
The registration points at GoRoute’s certified access point, which receives the document, checks it and places it in your inbox. A registration with no working receiver behind it is exactly what the seven-day check catches.
Your invoices, wherever you want them
Received invoices sit in the GoRoute portal as the original UBL and a readable PDF, and can be forwarded by email or pulled into Odoo, Xero, QuickBooks and Zoho through the connectors.
The two Belgian Peppol ID formats
Belgium has two schemes for the same company. Amazon accepts either; the network resolves both to the same registration when both are published.
0208 · enterprise number
0208:0123456789 — the ten-digit number from the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO/BCE). This is the identifier the Belgian administration recommends, and the one GoRoute registers by default.
9925 · VAT number
9925:BE0123456789 — the same number with the BE prefix, under the VAT scheme. Some senders still look a buyer up this way, so GoRoute can publish it alongside 0208 at no extra charge.
Both schemes are in the Peppol participant identifier code list. Which one a given supplier uses is their choice; publishing both means you are found either way.
Who this is for
Anyone in Belgium whose Amazon Business account has started asking about Peppol.
Companies buying on Amazon Business
Office supplies, IT, consumables: every business purchase now comes with a Peppol invoice. Without a valid ID the invoice cannot be transmitted and your bookkeeping has a gap.
Sellers on Amazon.com.be
Your own suppliers must invoice you over Peppol too, and a Peppol ID of your own is what you quote wherever one is asked for. The same registration serves both directions.
Accountants and bookkeepers
One subscription covers up to 50 identifiers, so a practice can register its clients under one account and see every client’s incoming invoices from one place, or under its own brand through the partner programme.
Groups with several entities
Each legal entity has its own enterprise number and needs its own ID. Register them all in one account; each keeps its own inbox.
Registered before Amazon’s next validation run
GoRoute is a certified Peppol Access Point and runs its own SMP. The account is free; publishing is $29 a month per organisation for up to 50 identifiers.
What the Belgian rule says, and what Amazon says
The mandate is Belgian law; the validation rules are Amazon’s own. Both are quoted from the source.
The mandate
From 1 January 2026, invoices between VAT-registered businesses established in Belgium must be structured electronic invoices exchanged over the Peppol network in the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 format. Sales to consumers and to businesses outside Belgium are not covered.
Amazon’s validation
Amazon Business requires a valid Belgian VAT registration number and an active Peppol ID in the account; the ID must support Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 including credit notes, the SMP must accept the CreditNote document type, and re-validation runs every seven days. Business-to-government purchases are not supported yet.
