Verify a receipt

Confirm that an invoice was genuinely issued and reported to the tax authority. Everything you need is printed on the receipt in your hand.

Exactly as printed, including decimals.

What verification tells you

A verified receipt means the invoice exists exactly as printed, was issued through a certified Access Point, and carries a reporting status.

The invoice is real

The reference and total match a document issued through the network — not a receipt printed by anyone.

It has been reported

The status shows whether the Tax Data Document has reached the tax authority or is held pending their endpoint.

Nothing has changed

The Fawtara QR carries a UUID derived from the invoice values, so altering any of them breaks the match.

Questions

Why do I need both the reference and the total?+
Because an invoice reference runs in sequence. If a reference alone were enough, anyone could work through the numbers and read other people's invoices — names, amounts and destinations. Asking for the total as well costs you nothing, since it is printed on the same receipt, and makes that impossible.
What does verified mean?+
It means the invoice exists exactly as printed on your receipt, was issued through a Peppol Certified Access Point, and carries a reporting status showing whether the Tax Data Document has reached the tax authority yet.
What is the QR code on my receipt?+
On an Oman B2C invoice it is a Fawtara QR: a Tag-Length-Value payload carrying the seller name, VAT number, date, time, total, VAT amount and a seller UUID derived from all of them. Scanning it with an ordinary phone camera shows a base64 string rather than a readable invoice, which is correct — it is meant for a tax-authority reader, not a person.
My receipt will not verify. Why?+
Check the total is entered exactly as printed, including decimals, and that the reference has no missing characters. A receipt from a test or demo system will not verify against live records. If both are correct and it still fails, contact the business that issued it.
